There have been many times that I have been a leader. When I was working with kindergarten students I was a leader. When I was in high school I chose to do co-op. I wanted to do something to help my community. My teacher thought that it would be a good idea for me to work with children. The first day that I started the teacher let the students know I was there to help. Throughout the semester with the students, I had an experience. There were some hiccups in the semester when the students decided not to listen to me but overall the semester went well. This experience in leadership taught me many things. For example, you can’t control everything. There was a time that a student cried because they didn’t want to eat pizza. I knew in that situation I couldn’t do anything but tell me you don’t have to eat the pizza. Another thing that I learned from this experience is you can’t please everyone. When I would have to do crafts with the students some of the students were excited to do the crafts while others weren’t. When working with the students and others leadership style is nice but tough. For example, when I was working with the students, it was nap time. The students want to lay on their mats with no accentance. I told them you can lay by yourself but if you start talking or start acting silly I would have to sit next to you.I would like to work on my leadership skills. Something that I would like to improve on is my communication skills. I am very shy and like to keep to myself so have trouble speaking to others. I would like to be able to talk to more people and once I do that I would like to be a improve my speaking.
